Ysmael "Mike" Hernandez, 93, lifelong area resident, died Wednesday August 13, 2008 at his home in Ft. Morgan. Mike was born January 15, 1915 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He married Josephine Zapata on January 29, 1936 in Snyder. Mike attended the United Methodist Church in Brush. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, gardening, reading, woodworking and doing the mechanical work on his cars. Survivors include four sons, Ricardo Hernandez of Anchorage, Alaska, David Hernandez of Ft. Morgan, Manuel Hernandez of Casper, Wyoming, Charles Hernandez of Denver, one daughter, Mini Amador of Los Angeles, California, one sister, Mary Jimenez of Brush, sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Hernandez was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Josephine who died November 5, 2005, two daughters, Helen Murillo and Beatrice Hernandez and two sons, Stephen and David Hernandez. Visitation will be Monday, August 18, 2008 from 2 until 5 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Brush. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Interment will follow in Brush Memorial Cemetery. Memorial Gifts may be made in Ysmael's name in care of the Heer Mortuary and Crematory. The Heer Mortuary in Brush is in charge of the arrangements.
