Obituary

Zachary Trey Daughenbaugh, 17, was born in Lone Tree, Colorado on November 12, 2003.

While growing up in Kiowa, CO, Zachary loved the cows, the outdoors, and his dog, Tex.  He was a natural athlete who loved to compete in absolutely anything.  He always had an amazing smile, beginning at the time he was born, and would light up any room he entered.

When his family moved to Brush in 2018, Zachary found his true passion in the High School FFA program.  He discovered a love for agriculture while working with his close family friend, Garry Shino.  He loved welding, hanging out with his tight knit group of friends, and the many trips he was able to attend.  During his short time at Brush High School, he made a huge impact on the student body and carried that wonderful smile everywhere he went.  He served as the chapter sentinel and was most recently elected to serve as president of the Brush FFA Chapter for the 2021-2022 school year.

Zachary loved to be outdoors and could be found hunting and fishing with his family and friends every chance he got.  He had recently landed his dream job, working at the Sterling Reservoir for the summer.  He loved coming home telling us about what everyone was catching and had big plans to spend the summer at the lake.

Zachary was a very outgoing young man who had a big heart and a great sense of humor.  He always stood up for what he believed was right and wasn't afraid to let you know what his thoughts were.  He was an extremely hard worker who was always willing to lend a hand.

Zachary had recently been confirmed in the Catholic faith and had chosen Saint Isidore, the farmer, as his confirmation saint.

Zachary is survived by his parents, Debbie Daughenbaugh and Mark Daughenbaugh; his five siblings, Mikala, Tyler, Todd, Brody, and Mikena; and his grandparents, Mary Ann Kreutzer, Ronald Kreutzer, Janet Daughenbaugh, and James Saul.  He is also survived by countless other friends and family members in whose hearts he will always live.

Visitation and Rosary service will be Friday, May 21, 2021, at 6:30 PM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush.  A memorial service will be at Brush Middle School Gym Saturday at 2:00 PM.  Those attending the memorial service are asked to enter the Brush Middle School through the east door by the weight room.  The service will conclude at the school.  The Heer Mortuary & Crematory is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.   Parking at the Brush Secondary School Campus will be on the East side of the school.
