ZONIA R. PAULSEN, 95, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Fort Collins, CO. She was born March 12, 1915 in Oakland, NE to Gust A. & Jenny (Peterson) Anderson. After graduation from high school she attended nursing school, receiving a degree in nursing as an R.N. She married Raymond M. Paulsen on July 3, 1942 in Omaha, NE. Mr. & Mrs. Paulsen had lived in Nebraska and Wisconsin before making Brush, CO their home in 1964. She was the director of nursing in Waupaca, WI and at the Eben Ezer Hospital in Brush, all while her husband worked by her side as administrator/pastor. Mrs. Paulsen was first a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush, and she later joined the Eben Ezer Lutheran Church after her move to Tabor Apartments several years ago. She was also a member of the Eben Ezer Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, and playing the piano. In years past, she and her husband especially enjoyed traveling together in their motor home. In November of 2009, Mrs. Paulsen moved to Fort Collins to be closer to her daughter. Survivors include two daughters, Glenna Newport of Brush and Gwen Murrow of Fort Collins; one son, Gerald Paulsen of Oakland, NE; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Vincent Anderson, Bertil Anderson, and Quentin Anderson; her sister, Mildred Fischer; and her daughter, Gloria Weinman. Visitation will be Sunday, August 15th from 5 – 7 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Brush. Funeral services will be Monday, August 16th at 11:00 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush. Interment will follow in the Eben Ezer Cemetery in Brush.
